The ICS Triplex T9851 is a high-integrity Digital Output (DO) module designed for the Trusted™ Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) safety platform. This module serves as the critical interface between the safety processor and field-actuated devices, such as solenoid valves, motor starters, and emergency beacons. Consequently, the T9851 utilizes a 3-2-0 voting architecture, which ensures that a single hardware failure within the module does not compromise the safety function or lead to an unintended process trip.
Furthermore, the T9851 provides comprehensive “line monitoring” capabilities, allowing the system to detect open-circuit and short-circuit conditions in the field wiring even when the output is in the “off” state. Because it employs advanced diagnostic circuitry, it continuously verifies the ability of each channel to switch current. Therefore, if a primary output switch fails to open during a safety demand, the system can still force the output to a safe state, maintaining the highest level of safety integrity.
