Allen-Bradley 1756-L83E Controllogix Controllers

The Allen-Bradley 1756-L83E is a high-performance ControlLogix 5580 controller featuring 10MB memory and an integrated 1Gbps Ethernet port. It supports 250 EtherNet/IP nodes, controller redundancy, and up to 128,000 I/O points for advanced industrial automation.

The Allen-Bradley 1756-L83E belongs to the high-performance ControlLogix 5580 controller family. This Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) features a 10 MB integrated user memory for complex logic. It manages up to 32 concurrent tasks with 1,000 programs per task. Each unit includes a pre-installed 2 GB 1784-SD2 secure digital card for non-volatile storage. Consequently, the system protects critical application data during power loss without requiring a battery.

Integrated Network Connectivity

A standout feature of this controller is the built-in 1 Gbps Ethernet port. This embedded interface supports high-speed data transfer across linear network topologies. Furthermore, the 1756-L83E supports up to 250 EtherNet/IP nodes when running Studio 5000 Logix Designer. Users can configure networking via the BOOTP-DHCP utility for static or dynamic addressing. Additionally, a USB Type-B port provides a convenient local interface for programming and diagnostics.

Scalability and High Availability

The 1756-L83E supports full controller redundancy to ensure maximum system uptime. If a primary hardware failure occurs, control automatically transfers to a secondary processor. This module communicates seamlessly with various I/O platforms including Flex I/O and POINT I/O. It also maintains backward compatibility with legacy PLC-5 and SLC 500 systems through messaging instructions. The processor manages a massive capacity of 128,000 digital I/O and 4,000 analog I/O points.
