Product Overview
The HIMA HIMatrix F2DO801 is a high-integrity remote I/O module designed to expand the output capabilities of HIMax and HIMatrix safety controllers. Housed in a compact, rugged metal enclosure, this module facilitates remote field device control via safeethernet communication. It serves as a critical interface for actuating safety-related components such as valves, motors, and emergency stop circuits. Because it is a remote module, it does not execute independent user programs but rather acts as a slave device within a larger safety architecture.
Technical Functionality
Regarding its output capacity, the F2DO801 features 8 potential-free normally open (NO) relay outputs. These outputs are highly versatile, supporting switching voltages from 5 V up to 250 VAC or 250 VDC. The module operates on a standard 24 VDC power supply with a wide tolerance range of -15% to +20%. In order to ensure maximum system integrity, the module follows the “de-energize to trip” principle; should a system-level fault occur, all outputs automatically revert to a safe, de-energized state.
Furthermore, the module is engineered for rapid response times (typically $\ge 20$ ms), which is essential for preventing hazardous conditions in high-speed industrial processes. It includes internal monitoring that triggers a local FAULT LED and generates specific error codes that the main controller can use to initiate targeted safety reactions. While it primarily supports de-energize to trip, it is also adaptable for energized-to-trip safety applications when required by the process design.

Installation and Maintenance
The module is designed for ease of integration into existing HIMatrix networks using safeethernet. It does not contain an internal backup battery, which simplifies long-term maintenance by removing the need for periodic battery replacements. For circuit protection, the module requires an external 10 A time-lag (T) fuse. Because it is rated for Ex-zone 2, it can be installed closer to field equipment in hazardous environments, reducing wiring costs and signal latency.
